well, that has happened to me before, but I keep my found boxes and
HH counts separate, so i just took it and counted it in with my HH
count.

I think anyone who so diligently checks his or her boxes should be rewarded
once in a while. I can think of no better reward than a HH!! Take it, stamp in
and pass it along!!

BOTH
1. count it as a Find
2. move the thing along
I feel as though I'm doing my duty by moving it along if it otherwise
might sit in a box and rot given that Maine is the end of the line for
these critters.

It's always nice to email the person who started the HH (often they
will have their email address on the first or last page of the
logbook) and let them know where and when you found it and when and
where you plan to drop it off next!

A find is a find. I count a HH that I found when checking one of my
letterboxes as a find. The "Should I move it along of leave it"
question has been discussed many times before on this website (as I
am sure it will discussed again.) Some people take the HH when they
find it in their own box. That is a fair thing to do. Others, like
me, do not take the HH out of their box. What I do is stamp into the
HH and leave it for the next person to find in my box. It is nice to
reward the people who find your box :) As with finding a HH in any
box (yours or someone elses) the decision is yours to take or leave.
I will tell you that I felt bad once when I missed getting a HH in a
box by a few hours because the box owners had come by eariler in the
day to check on the box and took the HH. I got over it LOL.
